Dr. James C. Loden - Nashville LASIK Surgeon

James C. Loden is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Loden is carrying on the family tradition set forth by his father, Dr. James P. Loden, who was a nationally recognized eye surgeon. He received his medical degree from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Loden completed his ophthalmology residency at UT prior to moving to Indianapolis where he underwent extensive fellowship training in corneal transplants, refractive surgery and anterior segment reconstructive surgery.

Dr. Loden returned to Nashville where he founded and became president of Loden Vision Centers in 1999. Dr. Loden has continued to prove his expertise with the thousands of successful surgical procedures he has completed. He performs cataract surgery, corneal transplant surgery, LASIK surgery, refractive lens exchange, and glaucoma treatments.

Dr. Loden has presented papers at international conferences as well as taught surgical techniques to other doctors. Dr. Loden is a board certified member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. Dr. Loden is also a board member of the Society for Excellence in Eyecare (SEE) as well as the only surgeon in Tennessee to be certified by CRSQA (Council for Refractive Quality Assurance), a national patient advocacy group.

Dr. Loden is also recognized among the top 10% of Lifestyle Lenses surgeons in the United States. Dr. Loden has presented lectures on the Lifestyle Lenses to surgeons from around the world. He has lectured at the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He has lectured to surgeons both in the United States and abroad.

Dr. Loden resides in Nashville with his wife and 2 children. He is an avid outdoorsman and conservationist. Dr. Loden is very active in the community and supports local youth sports teams along with many charitable organizations.

 

Dr. Terrence Doherty - Nashville LASIK Surgeon

Upon receiving his medical degree, Summa cum Laude, from St. Louis University School of Medicine, Dr. Terrence Doherty completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. While at Case Western, Dr. Doherty was promoted to Chief Resident of Ophthalmology and established the surgical video conference for the residency program. After his residency, Dr. Doherty completed his Cornea and Refractive Surgery Fellowship at the prestigious Emory University in Atlanta, GA. Dr. Doherty is a board certified ophthalmologist, a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, and the Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology. He has been published and lectured on numerous occasions and is an active member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AΩA) Honor Medical Society.

Dr. Doherty remains on the forefront of technological development with regards to corneal transplants and refractive surgeries. This past year, he became the first surgeon in the state of Tennessee to perform cornea transplants with the use of a laser, a technique called Intralase® Enabled Keratoplasty (IEK).  Dr. Doherty and his wife, also a doctor, enjoy cooking as well as a variety of outdoor actives including soccer and golf. They live in the Nashville area.

 

Dr. Daniel J. Schimmel

Daniel J. Schimmel, O.D., grew up in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. He received a B.S. from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville followed by Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. Upon completion of optometry school, he entered private practice in Knoxville, Tennessee for nine years. He then left private practice and completed a one-year fellowship at Omni Eye Services of Chattanooga, Tennessee, in the diagnosis and management of ophthalmic diseases.

Dr. Schimmel has been involved, since 1987, in both the administrative and the direct clinical care of clients at large referral centers in Knoxville, Nashville and Chicago. He has managed over 6,000 clients pre and post-surgically for both cataract and laser vision correction. He has articles published on the management of corneal keratitis and lectured on a variety of topics including low vision, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Tennessee Optometric Association.

Dr. Schimmel has served as board member to optometric associations at both the local and state level. Dr. Schimmel is a huge sports fan as well as a world traveler. He and his wife reside in Gallatin, TN.
