Feyi Aworunse, O.D
Born in Lagos, Nigeria and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Feyi Aworunse completed her undergraduate studies at Tulane University (New Orleans, LA) and received her Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern College of Optometry (Memphis, TN) in 2016.
While in optometry school, Dr. Aworunse was involved in the direct leadership of several organizations including serving as President of the Student Government Association, student chapter of the Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians and Gold Key Optometric Honor Society. Strongly committed to community service and civic engagement, Dr. Aworunse has participated in numerous regional and international mission trips and community vision screenings. Recognized for her service endeavors, she was a 2015 recipient the Harold Love Outstanding Community Service Award, awarded by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission.
Dr. Aworunse recently completed a residency in Family Practice Optometry at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. There she gained extensive training in ocular disease management, pediatric/adult comprehensive care, contact lens, surgical co-management and further developed her compassionate, well-rounded, and patient-centered approach to clinical care. She has also lectured and published on a variety of topics including eye care delivery in underserved populations, infectious ocular disease, and health care policy.
Dr. Aworunse is an active member of the American Optometric Association, American Academy of Optometry, National Optometric Association, Tennessee Association of Optometric Physicians, and the American Public Health Association.
When she’s not caring for her patients, she enjoys a good book, good food, good company and any opportunity to satisfy her wanderlust.
