Ophthalmologist Amish Purohit, M.D.
Dr. Purohit is a board-certified ophthalmologist with advanced fellowship training specializing in disorders and surgery of the retina and vitreous.
His general Ophthalmology training was conducted at the University of Maryland School of Medicine Eye Institute in Baltimore, where he also served as Chief Resident.
His training also includes a Corneal Research fellowship at the Emory University Department of Ophthalmology in Atlanta and a combined medical and surgical fellowship in Vitreoretinal Diseases & Surgery at the prestigious UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute in Los Angeles, CA where Dr. Purohit received the distinguished fellow award for two consecutive years.
Dr. Purohit brings a wealth of knowledge to Loden Vision Centers in the areas of retina surgery and retinal management, including advanced skill in the surgical management of retinal detachments, macular holes, and the removal of floaters.
He actively contributes to the advancement of retinal care and treatment methods by participating in national studies and lecturing throughout the medical community on various retinal diseases, such as background diabetic retinopathy (BGDR or BDR), age-related macular degeneration (ARMD or AMD), retinal detachments (RD), floaters, macular edema, and macular hole. His interest in clinical research and his personal desire to seek out innovative therapies for retinal patients everywhere has enhanced his outstanding reputation throughout the ophthalmic field.
Dr. Purohit resides in Franklin, Tennessee with his wife and two children. His wife, Dr. Priya Purohit is a board-certified pediatric dentist. In his spare time, Dr. Purohit enjoys scuba diving and hiking and has earned four black belts in martial arts. He co-founded a non-profit music school in Los Angeles and is classically trained in Tabla, a classical Indian percussion instrument.
Dr. Purohit joined the Loden Vision team in February 2016.
