I heard Dr. Loden was the best and have no doubt of it. I went in for "surgery" yesterday and have no pain and perfect vision today. Besides this amazing result, the staff at the Green Hills office is as compassionate and friendly (and good looking!) as they are professional and knowledgeable. I would recommend bladeless LASIK at Loden to anyone who is considering it.
My experience at Loden was smooth as glass from start to finish. On my initial consultation I met with my surgeon Dr. Emily Graves and the refractive surgery counselor Laurel (both SO amazing), who gave an overall explanation of Lasik and how its evolved. A lot of the concerns I had regarding glare and dry eyes are sort of relics of the old way of doing Lasik where they slice the cornea with an actual blade (I know, gross, Im just now coming to terms with it). Since this is a review not a lesson Ill keep details on that to a minimum and just say they only do custom blade-free Lasik at Loden so that allayed most of my fears regarding the recovery process. Also its a relief that something as terrifying as laser surgery doesnt rely on my ability to answer the question âwhich is better, 1 or 2?â with pinpoint accuracyâon that first visit they measured my eyes using WaveScan to get the most accurate prescription possible. Dr. Graves and Laurel were super helpful in explaining the science behind what they do in an understandable but not condescending way. Theyre also upfront about the fact that Lasik doesnt keep you from needing reading glasses later in life (Im 31 and had a contacts prescription of -5 on each eye so thats something I was totally ok with). My total surgery cost was $4500 (its slightly more if you have Dr. Loden do it I believe) plus about $135 for the prescription eye drops. It includes all your follow-up visits over the next year. I didnt end up going for the optional meds (Ambien and some pain-killer) because it just honestly didnt hurt. Like⦠at all. I couldnt be more thrilled with the treatment at Loden. Laurel and Dr. Graves were both knowledgeable, enthusiastic and did an amazing job of educating me and putting me at ease. At the end of my initial visit Laurel literally walked me through exactly what to expect on surgery day, taking me to the pre-op area and into the operating room, even warning me that I might want to bring a sweater because the operating room has higher AC. She was also with us (âusâ being the great crowd of stumbling blind folk) on surgery day. Its hard not to feel a deep personal connection with the person who gives you your Valium and numbing drops before your eyes get cut open, so Laurel was going to get a pretty big thumbs up anyway, but she was absolutely great with me and with everyone else that was there that Friday. Its worth mentioning that the only bump in an otherwise perfect experience was a non-Loden-related complication that they handled with remarkable equanimity. I left my car in their parking lot after my surgery Friday, knowing that I could drive myself home Saturday after my follow-up appointment. Unfortunately I also left my keysâ¦. in the ignition and ever so slightly turned. Hey, I had a lot on my mind-- EYEBALLS were getting cut open. So after my follow-up appointment I went to start my car and gotâ¦crickets. I had cables; Dr. Mills and Dr. Barberic were leaving at the time. They stood there for half an hour, one with an owners manual and one with her iPhone, checking to make sure nobodys car exploded while they tried to start mine. When we finally gave up Dr. Mills drove me home so I could rekindle my relationship with AAA in the comfort of my own home. Really. Could these people be any cooler?
I can't recommend Dr. Loden and staff highly enough! I had LASIK on both eyes on Friday the 13th (dun! dun! dunnnnnnn!!) and my vision is absolutely LIFE CHANGING! Dr. Loden was so kind and helpful in answering any questions I had, and Dr. Barberic eased my worries with a wealth of knowledge and the sweetest, most caring spirit I've been around in a doctor's office in quite a while! My vision went from 20/400 to 20/15... even being able to pick out a few letters on the 20/10 line.

I've been all but shouting it from the rooftops to anyone who will listen... and even to those who don't... that if you've even been thinking about having LASIK done, Dr. Loden and his team are the BEST of the BEST.
The Loden Vison Lasik was the best decision I could make for my eyes. They made arrangments to meet my needs and set my scheduled appointments back to back to accomodate my work schedule. The staff were excellent and explained each step before proceeding. The procedure was painless and quick. I was given directions (must follow them) and a follow up exam the next day. I can now wake up and see the world without grabbing for glasses or contacts and solutions, etc. Amazing service and Outstanding facility. And all for less than $5,000 (both eyes). Highly recommend the Loden Vision Lasik centers: 5 locations to choose from.
