I've worn glasses and contacts for over 25 years and my prescription is -5.25 in each eye (roughly 20/400 vision). The increasing cost of my daily contacts caused me to look into LASIK. I chose Loden's for a few reasons. First, they have a reputation in Nashville for fantastic LASIK results. I've had several friends who have had LASIK with them and couldn't be happier. Second, I found Loden's to be very transparent throughout the process. Although their prices are not listed online, a counselor sent me the price sheet after my free consultation and I never felt pressured to make a decision or a purchase. I also felt uneasy about some other competitors offering huge coupons for "seminars" as it reminded me of the King of Queens episode where Doug gets a coupon for Carrie for half off the second eye, lol. I didn't want to feel like I was skimping on something so important (vision).
I first had a phone consultation where I talked about my prescription, why I was interested in LASIK, and the basic process of the surgery. I then talked with someone else about the different packages available. From there, I set up my appointment for my scan and then surgery. I was pleased that I didn't have to wait too long to get it done. My surgery was scheduled about two weeks out from when I made the appointment. Everyone I dealt with was knowledgeable and helpful. I asked so many questions but everyone was so nice and quickly got me the answers I needed.
Surgery went by quickly. It was more uncomfortable than painful (IMO the clamp to keep your eye open was worse than the laser, which I didn't feel at all). The actual surgery took about two minutes per eye. Immediately as I walked out of the surgery room, I could already see details across the room. 24 hours after surgery, I was already 20/20 in one eye and 20/15 in the other. My vision continues to improve, and I find myself playing games of "can I read that?" with signs and labels. It's hard to believe I don't have to wear my glasses or contacts anymore!
I would recommend Loden's to anyone looking to get LASIK, or even anyone just looking for more information on the process. They also do laser correction of cataracts, so if I ever end up needing that, I will come back to Loden's.
